Property from the Estate of Mark Smith, Lynchburg, Virginia



The armchair in good overall original condition, with moderate wear commensurate with age and use; this includes overall scuffs, scratches, impressions, bumps and traces of household paint; heavier wear to the outermost elements, including the edges and corners of arms and vertical columns; the legs with minor separation of elements, particularly in the lower region; one larger (1/4 in.) separation to the back left foot below the tenon; one round wooden arm peg missing from rear of left column; repaired diagonal split to square finial atop the back right column; original finish largely intact with some areas of uneveness; older water stain to rear of left back splat; slightly heavier finish wear to feet consistent with past exposure to moisture; original seat slats intact; newer replacement cushion is soft and dense, upholstery generally clean with minor wear and pilling; chair is substantial but may benefit from minor stabilization work. The settle in generally good condition with original finish intact; heavier wear to edges and corners, including some small losses and heavier finish wear; all original seat slats intact; the front finial to the left armrest slightly split; frame is substantial and sturdy.
