Description
Being offered is a set of two nice hand painted French porcelain apothecary jars marked "FRAX:" and "LUPIN: ALBUS", Circa 1880. They are both beautifully painted with only minor wear on some of the gilded fine line banding. The painted labels and decorations are vibrant and they display very well. Both jars come with their original lids and show nice bottom wear. The jar labeled "Frax Ornus" has a small interior rim chip and one lid has a small rim chip.Each jar measures approximately 10" tall with a 5" diameter. Lupin Albus is a plant commonly know as white lupin. The seeds, "Lupini Beans" are eaten for digestion and other medicinal purposes. Fax Onus is a tree whose leaves are dried and used for medicinal purposes in the 19th Century.
